Frequently asked questions and answers
The good news is that you do NOT need an International Driving Permit if you hold a valid licence issued by a member state of the European Union or of the European Economic Area.
Under Romanian law (Government Decision 795/2025), licences issued in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are also exempt (valid for up to 6 months from entry into Romania), as are those issued in Chile (up to 3 months).
Please note: for licences issued by other non-European countries (for example Israel, or countries in the Middle East and Asia), or for licences not written in Latin characters, an International Driving Permit is mandatory alongside the national one.
To rent a car the minimum age is 25 and the maximum is 65. You must have held your driving licence for more than 3 years.
These conditions apply to the main driver and to any additional driver. If they are not met we cannot complete the rental, because the car’s comprehensive insurance policy would no longer be valid.
First of all, what you send through the site is a booking request.
The cars shown on the site are our full fleet, but seeing a car online does not automatically mean it is available for the dates you chose.
Once you send the request, a member of our team will check it and confirm whether your chosen model is available, by email, phone or WhatsApp, within 12 hours at most.
To secure the booking we ask for a deposit of 150 Euro (or the full amount if the rental comes to less than 150 Euro).
The rest is paid when you collect the car. You can pay in cash (RON, EUR, GBP or USD at the National Bank exchange rate of the day), by bank card or by bank transfer (the money must have arrived in our account before the keys are handed over).
Yes. Cancellations are made by email to Customer Support, at least 48 hours in advance.
If you have already paid a deposit or the full amount, our cancellation policy applies:
Yes — please send us an email at least 24 hours before your current contract ends. We will tell you quickly whether an extension is possible.
Note: in busy periods (summer, holidays) we cannot guarantee the car will be available for an extension.
Our colleague will be waiting with the shuttle bus marked 321 RENT A CAR by the International Departures terminal (that is the only place where we are allowed to stop safely). He will take you quickly and free of charge to our office to collect the car — the drive takes about 2 minutes.
Please call him on 0752 844 243 once you have picked up your checked luggage, or straight after passport control if you only have hand luggage.
The car is returned to the location agreed in the rental contract. Please keep the following in mind:
You can drive anywhere in Romania without restriction, and in most European Union countries as well.
If you want to take the car out of the country you need our written agreement. Please tell us at least 2 days in advance, so we have time to prepare the original car documents and extend the insurance (Green Card) for travel abroad.
No, it does not apply day by day. The 300 km/day limit is worked out as an average over the whole rental period (unless you chose a package with fewer kilometres).
For example, if you rent the car for 7 days your total allowance is 2,100 km (7 days x 300 km). Driving 500 km on the first day is no problem at all, as long as you are within the 2,100 km total when you return the car.
If you go over that total (you booked 7 days / 2,100 km but return the car having driven 2,800 km), the extra 700 km is charged. The rule is that every started block of 300 extra kilometres costs the price of one additional rental day — in this example, 3 extra days.
Yes, the car is always handed over with a full tank. At the end of the rental please return it in the same condition, with a full tank (we recommend filling up at a station close to the return location and keeping the last receipt).
If the car comes back with fuel missing, you pay for the missing quantity at market price, plus a fixed refuelling fee of 15 Euro.
To make it as clear as possible, the correct fuel type is written on the outside of the fuel filler cap. The same information is on the inside of the cap (the manufacturer’s label) and in the rental contract you received when you collected the car.
If you are not next to the car, you can check the vehicle page on our site, where the engine is listed under „Details”. Important: using the wrong fuel leads to repair costs (towing, draining and cleaning the injection system and so on) which are NOT covered by the comprehensive insurance.
No, you do not. The standard cleaning and valeting at the end of the rental is already included in the price.
The car does need to come back in a normal condition, though. If it is returned excessively dirty (heavy mud, stains on the upholstery, spilt liquids or strong smells that are hard to remove), an additional fee of 100 Euro applies, to cover the professional detailing needed to bring it back to its original state.
Smoking is strictly forbidden in all our cars. If we find that someone has smoked inside, a cleaning fee of 100 Euro applies for professional valeting of the interior.
On top of that, if smoking has caused material damage (burns to the upholstery, headlining or plastic trim), you pay both the 100 Euro cleaning fee and the full cost of replacing or repairing the damaged parts.
We provide comprehensive insurance with zero excess. We avoid the phrase „fully comprehensive”, because it can be misread as „you can do anything with the car”. Comprehensive cover is strictly for road accidents, not for negligence or deliberate misuse.
For example, the following are NOT covered: cut or deformed tyres, damage to the underside of the car (driving into rough or prohibited places) and damage to the interior. For an event that is covered, you pay only a claim handling fee of 100 Euro.
However, if the incident is not covered by the insurance (misuse, negligence, breaking the law), you pay the full cost of the damage. And if the car cannot be driven after such an incident, it is your responsibility to pay for the recovery truck back to our office in Cluj-Napoca.
Comprehensive insurance with zero excess gives you peace of mind on the road, but you are financially responsible for the full cost of damage or technical intervention where these are caused by negligence or misuse:
1. Fine handling fee (50 Euro)
Charged to cover the administrative cost of dealing with traffic fines received during the rental (the fine itself is added on top).
2. Claim handling fee (100 Euro)
Applies in the event of a road incident and covers the work of handling the claim file with the insurer and the garage. Please note: paying it does not release you from the legal obligation to bring the Repair Authorisation from the Police and photos of the other driver’s documents.
If you get a puncture, fit the car’s spare wheel, let us know, and carry on to the nearest tyre shop for a repair.
If the tyre is destroyed (cut) and cannot be repaired, leave the spare wheel on the car. Please do not buy a new tyre of a different brand yourself. We are required to fit exactly the same model. A real advantage with us is that on return we charge you for one tyre only, not for two, as many other rent-a-car companies do.
Finding the car scratched or lightly bumped in a car park with no known culprit counts as an „unforeseen event”. The comprehensive insurance covers this damage, so you will not pay for the actual repair of the scratch.
All you have to do is tell us as soon as possible. We open a claim file and you pay only the claim handling fee of 100 Euro (this fee covers the procedure with the insurer and the garage, and applies to any road incident during your rental).
Tell us immediately. Then you need to obtain the required documents:
1. Damage with no other party involved (for example running off the road): police report and Repair Authorisation from the Police; breathalyser test.
2. Accident involving 2 cars: photos of the other driver’s insurance, registration document, ID card and licence; a European Accident Statement OR documents from the Police.
3. Accident with 3 or more cars, or with injuries: photos of everyone’s documents; a police report and Repair Authorisation issued by the Traffic Police — these are mandatory.
